Most of the teachers at Beehive are excellent. The principal, Pauline Longberg has been at Beehive for over 7 years, even though she only has a couple of years as an actual teacher. She is a poor leader and needs to either retire or be replaced. If she continues at Beehive for even one more year, my kids will be going to a different school. It’s sad that Granite School District has the inability to see what an ineffective, uninspiring principal she has been. She will forever leave a black eye on this otherwise good school.

3/31/2015 An Update: I just learned yesterday that Pauline Longberg miscalculated the number of buses needed for a 5th grade field trip to the symphony. She only ordered one bus, but should have ordered two. In an effort to attempt not to embarrass herself, she started acting like a bully and hand picking students to get off the bus, stay behind and miss the field trip. When she had numerous students in tears, she tried to force them to sit four to a seat. The bus driver refused to allow her to do this and another bus was called. The students did make it to their field trip, but were very late. For such an educated woman, she has little common sense. Had the bus driver not stood up to her, the safety of many 5th graders could have been put at risk. Is this the new normal for Beehive Elementary? Come on Granite School District, please relieve Pauline of her duty.

The principal, Nichole Higgins, is maniacal. Nine of 21 teachers quit in the 2 years she has worked there. She micromanages everything at that school making it near impossible for students or staff to enjoy Beehive Elementary. My child will not be attending Beehive next year and if you’re looking for a job in the school system…. RUN!
Utah education as it is, Beehive elementary is a standard example of what the Granite School District does. It could be worse, but could DEFINITELY be better. Given what teachers and administrators have to work with, I guess it’s ok.
