looking back on my time here, i have come to realize what a brilliant school Bemerton was. When i first arrived in 2007/8, it was in a shambles due to some very questionable leadership, however when the head teacher was replaced just a few years later things very quickly got better. i remember a very happy and accommodating environment, with all the teachers bar one proving more than competent in my opinion. At this time in their lives, the most important thing is that children are happy and i certainly know i was. The few objections i do have revolve around the schools religious policy. Although it is of course a CofE school, i don’t approve of prayer and hymn singing being mandatory; unless you specifically stated yourself to be of a different religion you would be expected to participate- which gave little room for children to make their own minds about religion. And although i have to praise the teaching of RE at this school, which did tell us that all religions were opinion, it was not introduced until around year 3, meaning that me and all my classmates thought that everything we were told in assemblys revolving around Christianity was fact, as it was never stated as an opinion. But nevertheless great school!
Great School. My lad on his second term in reception and extremely happy.
Great time and tbh I miss it!!
