Absolutely the best charter school in Palm Beach County. I understand that some parents may not feel the same but my experience overall has been both tough at times (as any school) yet Elanit Weizman, Principal, and her amazingly caring, engaged team of both staff and parent volunteers have by far gone above and beyond to exceed my expectations.

My son, Jacob, attended preschool at the JCC prior to Ben Gamla. It made the most logical sense to transition to elementary school at Ben Gamla, however, I was determined to visit the top three other charter/ traditional public schools in Palm Beach County. Two were located in Boca Raton, and Ben Gamla. The number one school is in Wellington, however out of my price range for homes.

Morikami Elementary felt as if I had walked into a scene out of “Step ford Wives.” All the children perfectly and quietly behaved on my tour…totally creepy and a solid, “No.” Water’s Edge, a STEM school with a solid gifted program had all the best facilities you could ask for but I still wasn’t feeling it. Then Ben Gamla was the last and from the moment I walked in the door with Jacob’s father, we knew that this school was the one as they “had us at hello”…

You could feel the warmth, the real LOVE this school had to offer. Elanit Weizman personally guided us through the small, intimate hallway of classrooms and although there are no fancy frills they share the JCC’s facilities for recess. The JCC also has the best aftercare program which was a big plus for us. Safety is also a huge concern. This school due to the Hebrew nature is basically on “lock-down” and difficult to enter as an outsider. Great amenity as overall school safety is unfortunately now a nationwide issue.

Yes, there was significant homework but after bringing it to both Jacob’s teacher’s and Mrs. Weizman’s attention, it was resolved as all and any of my concerns have been. Active PTO too. Couldn’t be more pleased and although we have to drive 35 minutes to school, Jacob doesn’t mind because he loves his school friends and family. Jacob will now be going to third grade this school year and he’s been attending Ben Gamla since Kindergarten.
