My boys go to Rosland Elementary in La Pine. I heard nothing good about them but when I tried to get my Kids into three rivers in Sunriver I was told they were full so it was a no go. The first 2 weeks at Rosland my sons first grade teacher was yelling every day. My son was so shaken every day coming home from school. He was timid, wouldn’t open up or talk about anything and was highly emotional, crying over everything. I talked with the principal. She knew of the instance and said “they were working on it.” I have since called Three rivers hoping that they may have openings for my children now, only to get a call back from the principal there stating that it was the same school district and wanting to know what we were dealing with. After calling back and leaving a voicemail about a teacher bullying my student he stopped contacting me. Way to be there for your students bend-la pine school district. You have teachers who are in charge of shaping young minds and instead are breaking them down then complaining when the child no longer respects or listens to them. I am highly disappointed in the way this district is run and am withdrawing my kids to home school them.
I think starting grade school at 8am is ridiculous, in order to be out the door and at the bus stop, eat breakfast, get dressed and brush your teeth they need to be up at 6 am, and then you are rushing! What a horrible way to start everyday! Elementary children need just as much rest as middle school kids or high school kids and they need to rely on their parents to help them as well. I just think it is tooooo early!
I’ve been going to bend lapine schools for most of my life, at the time of writing this I am a senior in high school and there hasn’t been much to complain about until now, when they refuse to do any school closures or delays for schools getting large amounts of snow and or ice. Absolutely ridiculous.
