I started dancing at the Bennett School of Ballet and Jazz when I moved from overseas 9 years ago. Not only are you getting excellent teaching at the Bennett School, but you are also getting a second family. All of the staff and students at the school show such friendliness and they all really care about you. I have gained such confidence in myself from being apart of the school and always love going to classes.
The “Bennett School of Ballet and Jazz” is the only school in Dunedin who can offer there students such a wide variety of not only dance skills but all areas of stage, and performance.

Shona Bennett is a brilliant dance instructor! She’s not only is an amazing teacher, but she also knows how to make the lessons fun.
Having had many instructors before and after her, I can really appreciate her skill and craft.
I personally studied at the Bennett School of Ballet and Jazz for 6 years studing all the styles the school offers. It was the most amazing place to dance. I Love every moment there. The dancers are amazing, the teachers are amazing.. the entire environment is amazing.

In response to the previous rating by Madison Buckley… Which I know for a fact to be untrue. Neither is Madison a mother nor has any other member of her family attended the Bennett School of Ballet and Jazz.

In fact my family’s experience has been the complete opposite and indeed so has the experiences of the other seven people who have also reviewed the dance school.

The Bennett School is a wonderful supportive environment in which to dance. The teachers are amazing You have no idea how much our family appreciates everything that the Bennett School does for us as a family and indeed the greater dance school. Thank you for your dedication and the knowledge you impart on the students.

We thank you so much and we are blessed to have been a part of the BSBJ family for the past ten years. Shona always goes above and beyond for her students, as do the other members of the teaching staff … the confidence they gain, the opportunities they are given, the love for dance they develop and the support the teaching team gives is awesome. There is no better dance school in Dunedin…

PS: I am a Mother of two daughters at the dance school, both have danced for ten years.

When I started ballet at age 8, I could never have imagined it would become such an important part of my life. I have made lifelong friends here and gained a second family. The teachers take a genuine interest in every student, not just in their dancing but in all aspects of their lives and development. All students are equal regardless of ability and are encouraged and inspired to be the best person they can be. Everyone gets the same high standard of teaching, whether they want to dance professionally or just for fun. I have been fortunate enough to take class alongside some very talented students who are now professional dancers. I owe so much of who I am today to my BSBJ family. Thank you.
Amber has been dancing at Bennett School of Ballet & Jazz since 2012, she started when she was 4 and is still excited about going every week. She has had so much support from all of her teachers, including Mrs Bennett, who has taken the time to focus on Amber’s needs and work to correct her posture (which is affected by turned in hips and slightly curved lower leg bones that cause pain in her hips and knees). Mrs Bennett has continued to go above and beyond our expectations in her tuition with Amber and she has become someone very dear to us. Every year Amber has thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the fabulous end of year performances, they have been such a wonderful experience for her and have helped to build her confidence. Mrs Bennett, and Miss Gemma have ensured that Amber has gone into her ballet exams fully prepared and knowledgeable of the curriculum, which has consistently led to her success and further building on her confidence in meeting new challenges. And on top of all this Amber has made some wonderful friends over the years as they all continue on with their passion to dance, and has become part of this dance school family. I cannot recommend this dance school highly enough! <3
