I want to make it clear that this is a review only on the school being apart of the Teaneck PreK program. That being said, the teachers that we had over the two years were amazing and definitely made the experience much better.

Now, the school itself being apart of the Teaneck PreK option falls short compared to the other options. We were placed in this school even though we never put it as one of our choices. Here are my issues:

•It doesn’t have a drop off option so if you have another smaller child, you have to end up needing to take both out of the car. That’s fine but they don’t have a crossing guard for the dangerous road in front of the school. This was brought to the attention of the program and the director of the school. I was told crossing guards were short staffed. It was suggested that we use the lot adjacent to the school.

•The lot adjacent works fine except during the winter. They weren’t on top of snow and ice removal(if the sun didn’t do it, it wasn’t getting removed) so you end up slipping while bring the kids to the school. This is especially dangerous when you’re carrying a small child.

•This school does not offer a lunch program. This was brought up to the head of the program and the director. I was told for a while that it was coming until I was finally told that the school is not large enough to accommodate it.

•I had an incident happen to my child at the school. I wanted to see the cameras to understand what really happened as I was getting conflicting stories from the teacher and the parent that it happened with. The head of the school wanted me to just continuously question my child who was already really distraught over the incident. It took me getting really upset on the phone in order to see the video. The teacher’s account was the one that matched up with the video.

•We were also getting a lot of messages asking us to bring little things like forks for our kids and had to argue to get them to allow us to bring bigger blankets than the thin newborn blankets that you get at the hospital for babies that they were providing.

It was a very frustrating year to say the least. We were asking to be transferred at the beginning of the year but were told that they didn’t have room elsewhere.
