Could not be happier with the care and attention my son has received at Beverley the past few years. The facilities, opportunities (both in and out of school) and staff are all first class. I can’t think of a better environment for my child’s educational needs, and the staff have been wonderful with him from day 1. Sincere thanks from a very grateful parent.
My son joined Beverley school 7 years ago after 2 failed mainstream placements. The move to Beverley is the best thing that has happened to him. Every achievement he makes, socially, personally and academically is celebrated and he is more included in school life that he ever was elsewhere. We have benefited as a whole family from the support, knowledge and understanding given by staff. Now he is in Secondary, we are excited by the opportunities he will be given and the qualifications that at one time we didn’t think would be possible.
This school started out alright but soon after the new headteacher change I noticed the school became more mainstream like and not fully built for the disabled, the staff started becoming lazy and in cooperate with the students. I thought with a new headteacher change the school would improve even further but instead it took a huge downfall, I am so glad I got to get out of that school my grades would never of been as high as I got if I stayed in that place, the school needs a new headteacher.
My Child has attended this school for some time now. Before the big move to the new building and the change of head, it was a very accommodating and caring establishment.Whilst there are members of staff who genuinely care about these children and are fantastic at what they do,a large group of the staff who teach the older children are an absolute disgrace.Bad language is used and inappropriate topics are discussed in front of vulnerable children e.g. a member of staff’s night out at the weekend.
Any issues that I have raised with the headmistress regarding my child’s care have never been taken seriously and whenever I have approached her with concerning issues such as the ones listed above, she is very quick to brush it all under the carpet.
I feel that these children’s welfare has taken a back seat with the head and her main priority is making the school look as up and coming as possible by concentrating on the higher functioning children who can produce positive academic results, as opposed to the more severe children who are often kept out of sight during inspections.
If you are a parent and are considering sending your child to this establishment please think very carefully, a child’s mental health and general wellbeing are far more important than helping a woman look amazing in front of Ofsted.
It came to me earlier today that it is nearly a year since my son left the 6th form at Beverley School. I remember thinking how lovely it would be if he could stay there for the rest of his life safe, secure, cared for and challenged. Words cannot express my gratitude to ALL staff for those fantastic years he spent there. Thank you
