Child Neglect at Brannon Stand Christian Academy

Around May of 2022 I entrusted Brannon Stand Christian Academy to care for my then 6-month-old twins. I wish I knew then what I know now.

In March my son was diagnosed with several food allergies. After countless trips to the doctor due to many allergic reactions to the unknown, we could not figure out what was causing the reactions. After my son was hospitalized due to a severe reaction his provider preformed extensive allergy testing at his young age of 16 months.

When I found out my son is allergic to beans, peas, strawberries, peanuts, tomatoes, apples, and eggs I provided his lunch for 2 weeks at which time I was told by the staff that Brannon Stand Christan Academy would accommodate his allergies and substituted the food he could not have. For the past 3-4 months Brannon Stand Christian Academy has been feeding my now 19-month-old son, So I thought.

Monday 07/10/2023, I picked up my son and was asked by his teach if the office staff had contacted me in reference to his allergies, I had not been contacted! My son’s teacher then told me that he had only received a small portion of ham for lunch and nothing more all day. After speaking to the office staff about these issues she stated the director of the daycare told the kitchen staff not to cook anymore food for my son because she was not going to keep accommodating him.

Tuesday 07/11/23 I was contacted by the upcoming director (current directors’ daughter) that they will not be feeding my son any longer and that I must supply all food (breakfast, lunch, and snack) for him, and I am still required to pay the full $1400 a month for childcare for my two children, no discounts would be granted.

As if this was not enough, I was also told by several staff members that on several occasions my son was given a single piece of bread for the entire day. This explains why my son screamed daily on the way home and shoveled his food at dinner as if he had not eaten all day.

The director of Brannon Stand Christan Academy also called me on 07/11/23 screaming at me because I voiced my concerns about them not feeding my child. She stated, I will not speak over her. As a result, when I picked up my children that after noon, she had two police officers waiting for me because she dismissed my children from Brannon Stand Christian Academy. This was extremely embarrassing for me and absolutely uncalled for.

I never thought my child would ever experience this kind of neglect from the very people we trusted, our community trusted, and the state trusted to care for our children. Not only am I furious but I am completely heartbroken for my child.

PARENTS BEWARE!!

I currently work in the nursery and have for almost 2 years at the time of posting. We’re a needs based classroom in compliance with state regulations. We recommend our parents review the minimum standards to understand what we can and can’t do.

Our babies regularly meet and exceed their milestones. We have a six month old that fully crawls and pulls up. She started around 5 months. Go team tummy time!

Our babies sleep in cribs.

They have nutritious meals on demand per each baby’s needs. This means we don’t force feed. We do have policies in place when meals are refused; parents are always notified.

They have plenty of floor time and spend minimal time in seats/swings. We hold all our babies often, sing to them, tell them stories, and teach them games.

Babies are changed as needed but checked once an hour. If a baby has soiled their diaper two minutes after their last change, state law requires us to change the baby again. Babies sleep when they’re tired. We don’t wake them as this is against state law too.

I have babies who are now 2 or older who still fondly remember me from the nursery. They often see us and run down the hall for a hug. We strive to build trust and lasting relationships with every baby/child while ensuring they receive the best love and care.

The staff is friendly, and I’ve had the privilege of meeting exceptional women here. I have come to call many of them friends, and I would trust them with my own children.

The one teacher that actually took care of my baby was fired for communicating with me about my child’s day. (good or bad) The owner made up some reason to fire her. My baby left daily with a blistered bottom and had not been fed all day on several occasions….and the teachers in her room were so scared of being fired by the owner they would actually put that on her daily activity sheet. When I inquired about it, the owner made excuses! The last straw was when she got so upset about me asking her about the incidences, she told me to come get my baby from daycare, that she would not keep her at her daycare anymore! So sad and such a misleading place of christian values! A childcare facilities turn over rate is a big sign of whether or not the facility is a good place to leave your child. Make the people that work for you happy and they will do their job! If the employees don’t want to be there then why in the world would you leave your child there. (They previously sent home a request of parents to make positive reviews of their business on google so they wouldn’t be so badly rated when someone google search them) I haven’t left a review for several months now, but after rethinking and rereading some of the messages between she and I, I thought I can’t let someone think that is a good place to leave their child!
