We joined the BCMS family in the fall of 2020 in the midst of the global pandemic. We were so impressed by the constant creativity, flexibility, and dedication that Dylan, Erin, and Christephen demonstrated when planning and delivering their curriculum. Even though separated, we all felt very connected and a part of a caring community. This was due to their optimal parent/teacher communication, which included an interactive app, where they share videos and photos of the students throughout the school day, so parents know exactly what their children are learning. Our son thrived in the Montessori method. He loved his independence in being able to choose his work time activities, where the teachers challenged him by adding academically enriching aspects that got him to think in new ways. We saw such huge leaps in our son’s confidence and emotional and social competencies. The teachers do such a good job guiding students through their social interactions and scaffolding their language and actions to develop their empathy towards others. We had such a positive experience and we plan on sending our two younger children as well.
Our daughter has attended Garden Home since she was 2.5 and we have felt so happy to have her there. Erin and Dylan are compassionate, consistent, and incredibly thoughtful in the way they run their school. They have provided our daughter the intellectual tools and emotional security to grow and learn with curiosity and joy. The curriculum, and the way it is taught, is diverse and engaging- providing a beautifully rich and holistic education. The way they welcome our daughter’s big feelings with gentleness and empathy has helped her feel more confident navigating the world around her as well as within herself. Beyond their dedication to creating an inclusive and excellent school, they have also been active participants in the community- giving their time and energy to enrich it through events, classes, and social gatherings. We feel truly fortunate to have Garden Home as the foundation of our daughters emotional and academic education.
