im giving this school a one star because, my child went here in 6th grade. she told me everything that happened and she included the staff and students. the students are clearly not respectful and were never taught manners and the staff does nothing when another student does something to another student. the staff openly mock children. the staff are also biased towards students, let me tell you about the counselor, Ms. Rodriguez. you think your child can trust her with their personal business, no you cannot. she also favors students, the other students, welll let me just say if she doesnt like you, she’ll make your life hell. she also falsely accuses students of things they dont do, please hire a new counselor. dont even get me started on the low budgets. the school bathroom is even worse than my daughter told me. i went to the school and had my daughter change in the bathroom because she had dance right after, and there was no toilet paper, a missing door, writing everywhere including bad words in a child atmosphere, a cockroach, and unflushed toilets. there is also no wifi my daughter has told me countless times that she was not able to do tests due to no wifi, sometimes theres even no ac in the building. some teachers also teach multiple subjects. the water fountains are also broken and do not work. the cafeterias are also outside and students even have to eat there while its raining. the teachers barely teach anything my daughter is stuck on 5th grade reading level. the office staff also has loads of attitude towards both students and parents. the after school activities are also low budget and cost loads of money. the school lunch is basically prison food. schools fights also happen every week and theres never any staff watching over the children. my daughter also told me about how she almost got a detention for being late to 1st period but the traffic infront of the school is insane. the trunk or treat event was also cancelled for god knows what while the younger children had theirs. the staff is extremely favoring towards the elementary kids. in conclusion, i would mot recommend sending your child here, EVER.
My daughter is in Kindergarten this year in Mrs. Carbonell’s class. She has done remote learning until this week and I have been so impressed with her experience. The remote learning followed along with the in person students & Mrs. Carbonell did an excellent job of making them feel included & orienting us the week before school started. Despite my daughter doing remote learning she felt a connection to her teacher & the other students which I think is amazing given she had never met them in person. We attended field day last week & I felt that sense of community/family others had mentioned to me when I’d ask them about the school. My daughter is now attending the school in person and is so happy to go to school each day. She had a few days this school year when she was with some of the other kindergarten teachers & she also enjoyed her time with them & they made her feel so included even though she was just in their class for a day. Her teacher used an app to easily communicate with us. The only reason I took one star away is because I feel communication from the administration of the school is lacking-primarily via their social media accounts and if you have follow up questions when calling the school I often feel like I am bothering the office staff instead of them being willing to help or have to post my question on social media to get a response. Overall very happy with how her first year at Bridgeprep Academy of Village Green has gone, especially given the challenges the pandemic presented.
