My son also goes to this school and I echo the complaints about searches of phones and other on-line accounts. It is intrusive and the leadership should put a stop to it immediately. My son was called into the office of one of the head teachers and “asked” to view his Google accounts. My son complied but felt under duress. He was instructed to change his rating of the school on Google (now 5 stars) and take down other posts on his Instagram account. I was never looped in or notified of this until raised to me by my son. I’ve heard of several other instances of such intrusion into personal accounts of students without advising parents first. These are personal accounts with 3rd parties. The school has no standing. This activity seems to center around one teacher in particular. I’m inquiring further and will adjust my rating if warranted.
We have been at this school since its founding and could not be happier. Our son has had excellent and caring teachers and has thrived under their guidance. Every year they truly get to know him as an individual and push him to meet high academic standards. They consistently differentiate learning in the classroom and challenge students with the rigorous curriculum but still find lots of ways to make learning fun and exciting. There is a ton of creativity in their approach and a very strong visual and performing art element in the curriculum which is important to us. The IPC curriculum is also a huge plus and it truly imparts a global perspective to the students. I can’t say enough good things about the school and its wonderful parent community.
The British school is private and, therefore, expensive. However, they never ask for donations and, when you add up the “extras” at private schools that claim they are cheaper, British is very competitive and often less money. As for academics and culture, it’s the best. I have been a member for three years and interviewed at all the main private schools in Chicago (except Lab). The warmth of the teachers, the nurturing environment and the caring way in which they teach the kids is unbelievable. The kids Want to come and get sad if school is closed! The teaching staff is just terrific in every way. And the curriculum is outstanding, sometimes overwhelming. This school is worth every penny!
