My son, now in 8th grade, has had an amazing experience at BUGS.  He is doing exceptionally well, and is taking both the Algebra 1 and Living Environment Regents classes this year. He is happy and confident at school and has made so many friends. The students are very supportive of each other and you can see the special camaraderie they share, which I think has a lot to do with the advisory classes they have four times a week. My son loves his teachers, who are all very supportive and engaging. Most importantly, the administration and the faculty place a high priority on the social and emotional growth of their students. Parents are welcome in the school at any time and during “open classrooms” I have been very impressed with the teachers and the subjects.   Over all, BUGS is a friendly, tight-knit community with friendly students and talented teachers. I am truly happy that my son goes to BUGS and I couldn’t have asked for a better, more well-rounded experience for him.
POOR POOR POOR SCHOOL! The only reason I am giving the school 1 star is because I have no option to but to leave a 1 star. They have a system set up called TeacherEase which is supposed to keep both parent and child up to date of the students grades. It is mostly NEVER updated unless its a day prior or day of the Student Led Conferences. When calling the school they are extremely rude and rarely want to answer any of your questions. Your child will not have Physical Education during the duration of their time in the school. The list can go on, however the point of the story is DO NOT ENROLL your student in this school. I don’t feel they prepare your child for what in is in store for High School what so ever
My son attended this school from 6th to 7th grade (6 month term). The 2nd year was a horrible experience. No communication from the teachers. Many parents and students are not happy with the lack of experience from all the new teachers that started this year. If the teachers are not good, how are they suppose to help the students achieve success. Please see reviews from others, they all mention the teachers. It took several emails, phone calls, and emails directly to the principal and it takes several days to get a response. My son transferred to another school in February and is much happier with the well structure at his current school.
