just last week my 9 year old fell from the monkey bars and possibly fractured his elbow. When i got the call from the school i was told that he hurt his arm but seemed fine and he is moving ok. We asked that he stay in the nurses office until we got there. When we arrived he was back in class. The front office lady told me that he was at lunch. I asked for her to go get him because i wanted to check on his arm and take him to the doctor. She went to get him came back and said that he is getting his stuff but will be up shortly but he was moving his arm just fine and nothing seem to be wrong. When he did arrive at the front office. He wasnt able to move his arm at all. his elbow was extremely swollen and bruised. I took him to the doctor because i knew something was wrong we round up going to the er only to find out by xray that due to swelling and bruising they were unable to see if he had any damage to his bones. less than a week later we go to his PCP and she tells me he needs yet another xray because he can not extend his arm still without struggling and hurting. I as a mother that is extremely protective of my babies feel at this point that I am not only worried about the safety of my babies but also for their well being. Anything could have happened to my daughter while she was left alone outside at a play ground that isn’t fully closed off. We were transferred from Spangler Elementary due to where we live. Never once did something like this happen EVER. Never once did my children ever get hurt at any of the schools ( there have been a few due to us being a Military Family) that we have been to from the time that my children started their schooling career. I understand that there are a lot of children in my childrens class and that the school is probably over crowded but again this is extremely unacceptable. I am very upset about both situations and will be going to school tomorrow morning in search of answers.
