Our child was a middle school student and this was our child’s first year attending this school. This school/education is mostly independent work. Self paced, self disciplined, and time management skills is a must for a student to succeed at this school. Our child did well and her grades were a reflection of it.
Our child had honor roll the whole entire year and was not recognized. No certificate or any other way to show our child all the hard work was recognized. This concern, I did email the administration and the response was the school was working on it. I never received any other updates about it.
Also at times the directions from staff were not clear about work. Frustrations turning in work due to reasons that our child/us had to email the staff to unlock certain links to turn in work or get work. The staff and administration were professional however we had an incident about another student bullying/causing extreme emotional distress for our child. This happened during Science camp for the whole duration. This student called my child numerous names some that we did not even mention to the admin. It was not addressed appropriately. Speaking with the other student and a statement from our child was school protocol. I felt if we had not nagged about this it would have been swept under the rug. This student was still allowed to go to all the school on site functions and another field trip. The solution was to keep them apart during these activities. I believe the other student shouldn’t have been allowed to attend another field trip without a parent chaperone. In the end we didn’t allow our child to attend any other activities. As parents we believe any type of school online/in person can always make improvements to help the school run smoothly. Please do not make snarky remarks to our post, this was our experience with this school.
