The school is great, my child currently attends and we like how much she is learning and improving daily. I rated this 4 stars because the principal Ms Zelda Washington is one of the rudest people i’ve ever had to deal with. Here’s a list of all the unacceptable things Ms Zelda Washington has done just becuase she is driven by pure “ego” .
1. She feels like it’s acceptable to have the kids wait on a line in the cold to shake her hand when its snow on the floor and the temparture is below 0
2. You must have an appointment to speak “with the queen”; if not she acts like your invisible and refuses to address any of your issues and concerns and has no poblem passing you (the parent) off to someone else becuase she can’t be bothered.
3. The complete disregard for parents who work and run businesses, everything isn’t “mandatory” and you should cater more to your parents that are out here providing for their families instead of catering to the unemployed people that have nothing but time. I mean not becuase I work means I don’t care about my kid , but you ms Washington should understand that not everbody has job flexibility.
4. Had I known you would of returned this semester i would of removed my daugter from your school. The teaches aren’t the issue your ego is so with that said my child will not be attending this shool next semester and you priciple Washington should do better as a human being!!!!!

I am having a phenomal experience with my two children in Bushwick Ascend Lower School.
The school is diverse. The teachers in 5 combined years have been loving beyond measure and treated my kids like their own (we are still in touch with them). The communication is outstanding, the principal doesn’t mind stopping to assist a scholar with class work.
My child’s attention span is low and she is very active. Yet, the teachers haven’t responded with impatience but dedicated extra time to a behavioral chart and daily communication with us as parents.
This school has a high standard. Both of our kids were fluent readers after Kindergarten. Despite the high standard, homework is moderate, no crazy summer school sessions and military style drill sargants.
Ms Washington and her team are doing an excellent job at combining quality education, care and safety for our kids.

I am a formal student of this school and I loved it. Ms Washington was fun. And we got fanatics Friday so you get to earn a prize if your doing good. And the food unlike most schools is real food. And tastes good. When I was there you get pizza every Friday but I’m giving it 3 star because 1 my head would hurt almost every evening after school. Because they overwork us.
2 I’ve been bullied my entire since 1rst till 4rth in that school.
Most teachers don’t do nothing. In firsts grade I raise my hand to tell about my problems. And I got out right rejected. Because there teaching. I trie to tell her later nope.
