I prefer this school over my son’s prior public elementary school for two reasons – 1. his class is divided in two. His homeroom is math/science and his afternoon class is reading/language arts. He has told me himself that this actually allows him to concentrate more in each subject since he is not bombarded with 5 different things at the same time, which he told me would happen at the public school. Secondly, his teachers have a very positive way of thinking when it comes to passing the grade level. They say WHEN they pass on to 4th grade, not IF they move on. Public school always was “well, if he passes. If not, then he will be held back.” this was said to me in a very nonchalant, “oh, well” type of manner and I really thought that was just not right. His public school teacher was really sweet but always seemed stressed and unenthusiastic about my son. Here at this new school, my son feels as though he is getting more personalized attention. And the proof is in the letters. He had a C- in reading last year and now, just after a couple of months, has a Bplus. He is reading better and I really didn’t have to do much, unlike last year at public school. He seems more focused, more challenged and not bored. You can say what you want about this school and by no means am I saying that public schools are bad. With this school, so far so good and I do feel better about switching him. But with his old public school, you would have considered yourself “lucky” to get a good teacher. It really is a hit or miss. I felt invisible at his old school and here, everything is more concentrated, which I like.
Horrible school!! Have had my kids there 3 year’s only one year of the 3 was some what pleasant. The teachers and principle could care less about there students needs. Took over a year for my oldest to get the help he needed from the school.Major lack of commuincation no empathy . Went to withdraw my kids and they could care less nor ask why . teachers lack communication skills and are rude. Emailed my son’s teacher to find out what happened that day with my son and her response was appuling. If a parent ask a question that question is answered u dont give a response of so and so knows what they did. I asked my child got some information ( 1st grader) wanted to hear from the teacher so i made sure i had all info so i could address situation correctly. Wouldnt recommend this school to anyone. They dont care about the education of the students or seeing them advance. And could really benifet from taking people skills classes.
Todays 6-7 grade awards was the frosting on the cake! 3 years my childrens attended and this was the WORST and LAST year! Very unorganized, lack of communication, Each teacher grades differently, some teachers are only there for a check, high turnover on teachers!! Today I found out one of my the teachers quit a month or so ago and was replaced with a substitute . This happened during end of the year testing. Today that class was left out of the awards! Parents take the day off , kids get excited and get dressed up, to only be left out. Very Unprofessional. I feel bad for the handful of teachers that really do care and to the music teacher, who did an awesome job today. He was the only one that knew how/what to do& what was going on, he step-in for the absence teachers (Davie School 6/2018)
