I love this school so much, my children have had such a nurturing and creative learning experience here, supported by teachers who are really working for a higher purpose. Both my son and daughter have flourished in their own unique way and they have the confidence to be themselves. ‘Know thy self’… the rest comes easily!
Also, for those who wonder how kids go transitioning to mainstream school, each child is different, but my daughter skipped a year and was achieving As and Academic Awards in mainstream high school.
I still want the high school to go through to Year 12 … such a better atmosphere.
If I could give a zero start I would. Please parents stay away from this cult school. This school will damage your child. If your child is bright they will crush their soul and yours every day. The majority or the women teachers and admin are women who are divorced or lonely and they are like angry. I know lots of cases where parents have to pull out their children due neglect, abuse or bullying. One te teacher was under investigation for harming a child emotionally and physically. If your child is bullied they will let your child suffer. Their philosophy is the child has to endure that as is their karma or “contract” as the teacher told me. The child will have zero opportunity to learn all the amazing things in this world but playing style “Lord of the flies” movie. They change Principals like underwear as no body will endure that crazy school. Everything is dirty and they use the mums who cannot pay the fees to clean the toilets, I saw mums miserable and crying so many times. The amount of gossip and bad vibe of the mothers there is outrageous. They all prentd to be this hippie holistic tribe but everyone is gossiping and stabbing you in the back. Stay away from this school parents. I can’t count the amount of people who have horrible stories in this school. If you want your child be very behind in school and being traumatised and learn that Gnomes and fairies exist. Then go for it! Horrible School and the teachers and admin even worst. Hypocrites! Always with their fake smile.
This place is paradise. Nestled in the jungle, dozens of kid-friendly climbing trees. The teachers that I met were really friendly and switched on, and what I saw of the learning program seemed excellent.
The Cairns Hinterland Steiner School is truly an unsung gem of a school. The teaching and admin staff are exceptionally dedicated to the well-being, as well as academic success, of each student. My child is a happy, caring, confident, young person, which is in a large part due to the respect for the individual shown to the students and the mentoring/role modelling at school. The unique rainforest setting, large comfortable classrooms and other facilities are easy to see but just the cherry on top of the real treasure, the staff!
This school expands my children’s imagination, creativity and their curiosity to learn. They have an intrinsic empathy for the natural world. They will be well placed to tackle the big challenges the world will present for them as adults as well as understanding their place within it. The teachers are phenomenal, the grounds are beautiful, I wish that I could have experienced such a schooling growing up.
