I just want to say I’m grateful that I have my license and in my time at Career academy I met some amazing students and some of the staff was pretty great!
However I attended this program as a high school student and almost 10 years later I was told I didn’t have any hours (which I did but was willing to start over). After starting over, another girl had the same situation, she was only 5 years out but same situation. That girls mother was a cosmetologist and new the hours still existed so she got her previous hours. After learning this I fought to get mine back. I mean who would want to start completely over and pay for hours they’ve already completed right? So after some tough discussions I was given my hours back that I worked for before. Which ment the hours I missed previously transferred over also. No big deal. The girl in admin in the school was helping me make sure I didn’t go into overages. Well the day before my graduation they pull me down to financial aid to inform me I was over in my hours missed and I owe the school 1500 dollars! They wouldn’t give me a license without paying that money. As a 26 year old single mom working full time and doing school full time I was doing good to keep bills payed and food on the table I absolutely didn’t have 1500 to fork over. So I talked to Becca and Jim to see about a payment plan. Well Jim had agreed on one condition. I had to leave a good review for the school. Firstly I don’t like being blackmailed and secondly my parents were able to help so I payed got my license and am absolutely done with CAHD. Not only are the owners money hungry but they literally teach the bare minimum. And they don’t teach any braiding. Extensions, or most importantly ethnic hair!
I would not recommend this school.
But thanks for the license I got it from here to further my education. ??
Overall, I had a pleasant experience at this location. I felt I could rely on the instructors for the most part, but only after one specific “leader” stopped showing up. Melia & Sandy are superstars and really led the way for students to feel heard & teach new and trendy techniques. I would say the hardest parts were some harsh treatment of a few students & instructors & knowing there are some pretty outdated things being taught in a changing industry but if you push for the things you are passionate about, you can get the most of your time. Go in with an open mind and stay out of the drama and you will be fine.
I stopped in to get my shaggy mop cut this morning. They got me right in. My stylist’s name is Madison. She was very careful, meticulous, and thorough with her work. Of course, the instructors checked periodically to see that things were going well. It is a good learning environment for those youngsters, and always a treat to see the results. In my wifes words, this is the best cut i’ve gotten there, especially in the back.

I agree. And i have always been happy with the results there.
