My son was hit repeatedly by another child. I communicated with the school including the regional director multiple times. They keep telling me that hitting behavior is a normal part of development and there is nothing they can do effectively. They can ask that child “how do you think that makes other people feel” and that’s pretty much it. I asked for my son to be put in a different class than the hitting child, they refused. At the time I couldn’t find another school immediately. In our recent meeting the director kept asking me “what do you want me to do?” I mean…I am only a parent, she is the expert in this field, why does she expect me to come up with a solution….I am very frustrated with this school. I understand that some kids bite, some kids hit, but I also have the right for my child to not be the target of another child’s “normal” development. The school focuses so much on helping the hitting child develop in a healthy way, they pay zero attention to how the child who is being hit develops. If your child is a hitter, this is actually the right school for you, because they are very understanding of this situation. But your child gets hit by others, you can expect no solution from them. Now I have found another school so I will not be coming back to Carpe Diem Richardson.
(Another one of their issue is that they cannot keep their teachers. New teachers come and go very often.)
We cannot say enough positive things about Carpe. Carpe has been a major part of our lives for the last 8 years. With two children matriculating through the Carpe programs at 2 different campuses, we are proud to call Carpe home. The three things that were important for us in considering a preschool were: Safety, Teachers/Staff, Curriculum. We have been impressed by the security processes that Carpe continues to enhance with new safety technology. We can rest at ease that only the people that need to be in the building are there and our babies are protected. Each of our two children have drastically different personalities and EVERY SINGLE DAY and every interaction with a staff member and teacher has been positive. They LOVED our babies and treasure their hearts and their minds. We have been able to witness the intellectual growth of our children who have been directly impacted by the caregivers here. Our last baby started at Carpe at 12 weeks and will complete Carpe Kinder this May. We have experienced every age stage and again, cannot say enough. We have less than a month left until we graduate to public kinder and although we are sad to leave this wonderful school, we are happy to have Carpe as part of our story.
My little girl went here from about 2 yrs old to 4 yrs old. We had such a great experience. My girl loved going to school every day. She was always in a good mood when I picked her up. She loved her teachers. If you are lucky to get Mrs. Marya, Ms. Tina, Dimitria, tonya and Holly you will have the best teachers in my opinion (this is who my girl interacted with the most). My little girl learned so much on a day to day basis and over all. She spent the most time with Mrs. Marya, when she was moved up to her class room I saw so much growth in her, in education, personality, and manners. Marya should be very proud of her self. ?? She teaches the kids every thing from education, sharing, compassion, playing and manners. I’d also brag highly on Ms. Tina! My daughter loved to go early just to see Tina! Tina always has a smile on her beautiful face and was always so welcoming! She was always in a good mood and listened to any concerns I had. ?? I would highly recommend this location. we are so sad to be leaving but everyone one will always be in our hearts and prayers. ? Front office is also wonderful, Amanda and Chloe are always there for you.
