I am currently a freshman, but I went to CD Fulkes for three years, and I can’t believe the comments said about this school, especially the fact they are grown ups who kids do not attend this school or even ever stepped foot in this school. As for others students who talk about this school I must say you do not go there EVERY SINGLE DAY. CD Fulkes is NOT ghetto! I was bullied sixth grade year but by only two people, does that make it bad? No. I go to Stony Point and have met people from Hopewell, Walsh, Hernandez, and some Ridgeview who had a bully experience at their school as well. Sadly bullying is a common thing, it does not happen in just one school. Yes I must admit, there were kids who did drugs, but i KNOW FOR A FACT there were kids who did drugs at other schools. The staff is amazing, i may not have liked every single one of them, but they’re the reason I’m doing so well in high school. & who is to say we have terrible children & staff at this school? Last year a young friend of mine Alden was diagnosed with brain cancer, that entire school year was all about him. We did SO MUCH fundraisers to help him, we did events, it was ALL for Alden. I must say it’s ridiculous how grown men & women & kids who’ve never stepped foot in CD Fulkes could judge it by a small fraction of kids or sometimes by race, or, just because it’s an old school, or because a large amount of the students are poor or because some were or are homeless (yes I’ve had friends who lived like that). Have you never heard of the term “Don’t Judge A Book By It’s Cover.”? If so, those who are quick to judge this school by it’s looks, students, or from stuff they hear, remember “Don’t Judge A Book BY It’s Cover.” & learn to have a mind of your own. I loved this school & I’m not ashamed to say I attended it for 3 years. I Just Can’t Hide That CD Pride.
Everyone who has posted a bad review has not seen the whole side of CD Fulkes. When my son first started going there 3 years ago we were told that it was “ghetto” but we soon learned otherwise. The building is old but the staff for the most part is amazing. I can not say one bad thing about the staff. They care about the kids and go out of there way to help. They have dedications to children who have passed, they donated to benefit one of the students that was diagnosed with cancer. Yes they have kids that curse but that is on the parents not the school. Kids get in arguments that sometimes turn into fights but they quickly get handled in a very appropriate manner. No matter where you go there will be drugs and sex and so on. This world has made it very accessible to the children. We recently moved to Hutto and the schools are rated better but I have to say I wish I could transfer my son back to CD Fulkes because the teachers communicate much better and the school has amazing programs.
