I have been a member of Central for many years, and overall, I have had a positive experience. All churches have their seasons of growth and decline due to various factors, so I encourage people to come and visit and form your own opinion. We are rebuilding our children’s ministry and incorporating new ways to reach out to the neighborhoods around us, including the downtown area. We have a wonderful senior pastor and a young college and youth pastor as well as a new young music minister, new young congregational care and education minister, and a new young director of children’s ministry. I gave our church a 4 rating because I feel that there’s always room for growth and improvement in certain areas of ministry, especially in the area of evangelism and
outreach beyond our doors. Tomorrow I’m leaving on a weeklong mission trip with the church to Guatemala, taking 44 volunteers, many of whom could not go without our church’s financial support. An annual event, we provide medical and dental care and outreach to the villages surrounding us at the camp that our church members built years ago. Evangelism is done through personal witness and through conducting VBS for the children after school. We are always looking for new and effective ways to share the gospel in our community, state, nation, and around the world.
There are good churches around. The key to me is this; do I hear a message from and with the Bible? Does this message help me with the issues life presents? Is it clear and relevant in actual help to me? Does the meeting help me in fulfilling why I am there? I have been associated with this church since 1990. Since my involvement with this body of believers we built twelve churches, orphanage encampment, food packing for thousands, feeding the homeless, involvement with third world children missions that provide free medical and dental help to communities each year they are open for travel just to scratch the surface. I have seen God work in this group so many times it almost seems like you expect a miracle to happen. I give this group of believers a firm thumbs up. It is really what you put in that dictates what you get back with as with anything. This is a good place to enrich and direct your journey.
