My son has been at Champion School since Kindergarten and I have been paying close attention to the school and the people that work there as second parents for the kids. Mrs Ruiz, his teacher in kindergarten for example, expresses love and commitment for the little ones in her group.

When he was in first grade the school announced a fifty book challenge to motivate kids to read and the number of readers grows every year.

Thanks to the fact that the school promotes sports and good grades all together, they produce intelligent and athletic children.

As I walk around the gymnasium I see hanging on the walls all kinds of sport awards as state champions, as well as trophies in the office which are impressive to me.

I have seen many times the Superintendent Mrs Sawyer walking across the fields during the games talking with the parents. She even wears the colors of the school every day, always something yellow. In my opinion, this is pure commitment and love for what she does.

All the classrooms have computers available for the kids for educational purposes. Each teacher has a computer to communicate with parents and the school will leave messages on the phone whenever it is necessary to inform parents of every important change or notice. For example, one time the bus was vandalized the night before and the students couldn’t be picked up the next morning so the families were notified at 7:00 a.m. of the need for alternative transportation.

So yes, this is the kind of school concerned parents want their kids to attend and where kids who want to be competitive in education or sports will be well prepared by developing their full potential for the future. Thank you, thank you, thank you Champion Schools and your team for your effort and your commitment.

This school is the worse school to send your kids. When it was first built, it was a A rating school. The teachers and coaches worked their students to do their best, and to give it their all academically and athletically, and demanded respect while giving respect in return. Now, this school is horrible. Teachers don’t respect their students, students don’t respect their teachers, there’s a different principal every year, so there’s no stability or even foundation. Theres no cross guard, kids running into the street almost getting injured everyday, no 15mph signs. Its ridiculous. Academically, their testing scores have depleted. If there’s an issue with a teacher, behavioral or academically, the principals do not contact back and are always unavailable to assist you or help you, even thought the principal is always there at the school and at school events, but we can’t contact them whenever they’re actually working. It’s a mess. Teachers abuse their positions here also, and stress the children out on everything except homework. It has gone downhill, and will not rise up to where it used to be.
Champion Schools (South Mountain) is one of the best schools in Arizona hands down. Yes, champion has its flaws but their greatest over shadows their flaws. I am an Alumni of Champion; and it is because of them I got a great education and athletic training. They gave me the skills to make the #1 girls high school basketball team in 2012 and won a state title. Champion has been recognized for their great education and athletic program for years and everyone wants to be apart of it. Champion was award charter school of the year in 2014 and is a A rated school. I am sorry to those that had a bad experience with Champion. But they have made some great changes that will give Champion a bright future. So when it comes down to Champion south mountain they are a great school and those that say otherwise don’t know Champion. #stingerforlife #champions #knowyourfactsbeforeyoucriticize
