This school goes too far on taking disciplinary measures. There’s a very strict rule about tucking shirts in which is reasonable, but the way it’s enforce is very unacceptable. There was a time my brother had messed around with his friends and one friend suddenly untucked his shirt as a joke and in a second notice, a school administrator wrote him a write-up slip and said ‘No excuses’. My brother is a sophomore at Chapel Hill High School, very well behaved, and always does what needs to be followed.
Just recently my brother was exhausted from work the day before and overslept, not hearing his alarm, and came on the bus late for the first time. An administrator was on the bus, gave him a write-up, and gave him a whole week of bus suspension. It is very unjust disciplinary punishment. The staff should think twice before they put it on any permanent record.
This school can’t possibly get any worse, right?
As a student at CHHS myself, I feel as if I’m in a jail cell compared to the previous years I’ve attended here. It seems like they put less focus on academic teachings (which is super important) and put much more effort in enforcing disciplinary actions and there are very few things you can look forward to when attending this school. It seems much less than an average school. I don’t recommend going here.
It’s really not that bad. I graduated from here in 2016 and honestly met some amazing teachers and some amazing friends. I don’t know how a lot of the new staff since most of the teachers I had left after I graduated, but the ones I know stuck around are some of the ones that made my high school experience as amazing as it was. It’s probably the strictest school in the county, but honestly that was one of the things I liked about it. They weren’t biased towards anyone and enforced most of the same rules (boys did have an extra rule for tucking in shirts that did lean a bit more on the ridiculous side and their phone policy is a bit extreme). Out of the two high schools I attended for my high school career, this was definitely my favorite, and the one I am proudest of. I’m happy I’m able to say I graduated from this school.
I graduated about 2 years ago and really enjoyed most of the teachers I had. However, I will never forget how Mrs. Susie Munday made a sick joke about my (at the time) recently deceased grandmother in front of the entire class. It made me break down crying and multiple students reported the incident to administration. Administration didnt even give her a slap on the wrist for her crude comment and she had the audacity to hold me after class the next day wishing I had been more mature and not report her. I am still disappointed that administrators didnt do anything but am glad she doesnt work there anymore because on top of all that she was a horrible teacher that exhibited obvious favoritism and taught us nothing. Other than her, I enjoyed my time at Chapel Hill.
