Oh my god that place was a nightmare. I graduated 2012 and I had been there since it opened my sophomore year. Every class was practically an all out war between teachers and students for control of the classroom. As a result, instead of what was supposed to be a “higher learning experience”, it was often just long hours of busy work. Honestly, that wasn’t much different from the surrounding schools (RHS, MHS,MZHS).
As a vocational school, it was severely lacking. Culinary arts, medical training and architecture were the best they could offer us. No psychology, sociology, shop, cosmetology or home ec classes. It was practically a Fisher Price Devry Institute. Our foreign language options were French or spanish, no options for Latin or any other language.
In all fairness, my graduating class was very much akin to the firstborn child of an under prepared couple. They did their best, but I sincerely hope they can do better for their future children.
I would like to express my concerns with the ongoing bullying that is at this school. My daughter was a victim of bullying from several students for more than 2 months. On October 24th 2017 the student decided to take the verbal assault to physical assault against my daughter. As a result my daughter sustained a kick to the eye with possible long term damage. I am now demanding that my daughter receive an enforcement officer escort her to each class to protect her. The issue with the school is how they handled the prior incidents prior to the assault. As a parent we send our children to school thinking they are protected but my daughter was not and for that reason I cannot recommend Charles Drew High School to any parent living in Clayton County that has a 9th grader to start or finish at this institution.
its a very nice and big high school and the teachers are very helpful, its a 2 story school…and the best part is you on your own for example: you don’t have walk in a line when the bell rings you just get up and go to the next class, in the
lunch room you can choose want, you have 4 choices its great af..and thats what i have to say about this great. the high school dont fight no food fight ever body matured??
