My wife is an immigrant from Kenya. I’m a severely disabled U S Army Veteran who feels pressured by time and longevity. Time is of the essence in obtaining quality career training in Nursing is a goal of very high priority. She was educated in her country with an equivalent of our high school diploma. Her country used the European model of language which is very beneficial. Although my wife speaks fluent British English the difference in dialogue and rhetoric is very significant. Our first effort was to enroll into a popular commercial nursing school. Initial entry test scores assessment placed her at a level below what is required for the nursing program. I know the high quality academic abilities of my wife. As I perceived, my concerns of the probable difficulties in transition from one educational system to ours’ was realized. (A more detailed writing of this survey will be prepared and sent to the Clearwater Adult Basic Education Center; for now I’ll just provide some limited information.) It was clear that my wife needed a kind of remedial studies. Not only was the training needed for language, it was needed for teaching styles/curriculum and especially to overcome the bias in testing.

Absent a local facility to compare, we still feel blessed to have chosen Clearwater Adult Basic Education Center. The design of the program is amazing. It seems to be customed tailored for Immigrants. The ESOL. Program, which my wife didn’t really need, teaches language in a format that provides cultural and civics information. I’ve often heard things like I didn’t know this or that and wow that is so good to know. No doubt the diversity in teachers is very beneficial. Some of them have been there and done that. This allows for a very personal sharing of information that enhances the process. I hear about Nada, Yulka, David, Mr. Math Mark?? and of course our beloved Sir Patrick ??. Thank you so very much for the excellent training you are providing.

I went to Clearwater adult education from april 1995 to july 1995, i had great pleasure to learn English with mrs Erica MOORE, Anne marie, Connie, Laura,Fernando. And the students used to pay attention in class. I would like to get in touch with ex students of 1995 if it’s possible, thanks in advance !
