The Cleveland Heights Historical Society is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to preserving and promoting the diverse character and traditions of Cleveland Heights, Ohio.The Superior Schoolhouse which is the home of Cleveland Heights Historical Society is owned and operated by the City of Cleveland Heights. Superior Schoolhouse opened its doors to many school children during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and during that time, underwent many changes. The Superior Schoolhouse stood largely empty during the 1930s and early 1940s. From 1947 until 1964 the building was reopened for the education of special needs children. In 1958, the City of Cleveland Heights purchased the property from the School Board and the City Carpenter used the old school for his workshop. The school was listed as the first Cleveland Heights Landmark in 1974 and placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. In 1997, Cleveland Heights voters passed the Recreation Bond Issue, which provided funds to renovate the building. The Cleveland Heights Historical Center at Superior Schoolhouse is open by appointment only. Admission is free
