I went in for cornrows and they came out great. They were done by 2 women, one who washed my hair and another who braided it. I forgot to get their names, but the braider had long red hair. I had set up a 10am appointment the day before, but when I came in there was no one at the front desk, so I just stood there until someone came. I finally just stopped someone and she told me to sign the sign-in sheet which I did, but then she just left and I was just standing there like : and I just sat down. A few minutes later the washer woman called me over and I showed her a picture of what I wanted and they got started. I have the nappiest hair and it’s hard to find a salon in Monroe who does braids. I just need to hold this mess. Usually I would find someone on Facebook, but I would have to wash and comb out my hair myself before getting them and they STILL charged way more for JUST the 8-10 straight back cornrows. The people at Cloyd’s charged me way less for the wash AND better quality braids. I was surprised so I tipped them way more because that’s what I’m used to paying anyway. I could usually feel people struggling washing and braiding my hair( And I don’t blame them because I don’t take care of it), but the two women didn’t seem to have a problem. They were even chatting while doing them. I’m definitely going back in a few weeks. So kind of a bad start, but by the end I was satisfied, so I gave them the 5 stars.
This place it awful to go to. They dont teach. They dont tell you but the school is a learn it yourself. They charge too much and dont give you certifications in anything to actually help you with your career. This school is a scam. They dont hire people that do not know how to do the job they assigned. They dont teach you how to do anything. They should take the nail program off there classes because they dont get told anything. They sit there and do nothing all day. There are so many state board code violations its crazy. Nothing in there west Monroe location is clean or organized. Please do yourself a favor and go to another school. And all the teachers make it very clear that they do not care if you pass or fail
Think twice before going here. One of the instructors had a young girl take the clippers with a no 2 guard and run it through my hair. She shaved my head from front to back in 1 swipe. They all thought it was funny. I ask the instructor if she wanted me to take those clippers and run it through her hair. I called 1 of the other instructors that was at another location she had already received a pic of my hair. She apologized but it wasn’t her fault. I hope I never go back there again. There is no excuse for what she done. Now I have to wear a cap it is so embarrassing. Pay a little extra and find a beautician that already is trained. DON’T USE CLOYDS. PLEASE BE AWare
