This school is forcing first graders to memorize entire words 15+ per week while not teaching them to sound them out first. You don’t learn simply by memorizing, you learn by understanding concepts and by practice and application. That is how you prepare young minds to develope reasoning and thought patterns. By assigning word problems for math homework before you teach them to read you are setting them up for failure. My child is still memorizing five letter words while being assigned math homework with words like subtraction sentence that she is expected to read and understand, and she is being graded on these. Get you game together BCSD.
Amazing school, terrible food, also expecting young students (Kindergartners) to do math word problems, with words they don’t even know how to think correctly. Staff could be better, and teachers need less of an attitude toward amazing children.
I used to go to collage park elementary but now I go to knightsville elementary I loved there though
