This is my children first school year and it has been the worse experience with my 2nd grader. I tried contacting the counselor along with the principle for the past 3 days and have not had a returned call. My daughter loves school and with this new change, she cries and states that she does not want to go to school. Seeing your child crying and having a hard time catching up is heartbreaking. The teachers set up a parent conference with both my husband and I to talk about her low grades and they were complaining about how she was not focusing or fast enough with their timed assignment (bell ringers, etc.) We tried explaining to them that this is her first year there and was coming from a DISD school and she was not use to her new routine. Not to mention the conference was on her 5th week of school. I asked them if there was tutoring available or what can we do to help her out and basically they did not know how to handle the conference at all. One of the teachers told me that they will not give her a seat that another kid can take that wants to learn if it looks like she’s not trying. “Just by seeing her grades we can see that she’s not trying.” I told them that I did not understand why her grades were that low, she is a very smart student that I had compliments from her teachers last year, not to mention that on her assessments test last year, she scored a 92 in reading and 100 in math. Now, my daughter stresses about school and test. I will definitely withdraw them from Collegiate and take them back to their old school. Parents, please listen to your children if they are having a hard time here. This school is so unprofessional and some of these teachers don’t even want to help them out.
I’m so disappointed that I enrolled my children here. They developed anxiety while attending this school. My children who were enthusiastic about learning and going to school are now crying every morning. Some of the teachers do not fully understand how children function. The administration staff is clueless when it comes to children they’re only concerned about testing. I wanted my kids to advance not learn how to test.
Love the school! My son is challenged way more than his previous one. Lots of school projects & interesting things for kids to experience.
