Highly recommend this school. Compassionate staff, excellent standard of teaching, a warm community feel and excelling extracurricular clubs.

The music provision is particularly good.

The safe environment allows the students to develop and thrive, at a crucial time in their lives.

Beautiful grounds with a view from the art department onto Shirley Windmill.

I feel compelled to share my observations and address the concerns raised by students and teachers, including my own daughters attending and friends teaching at Coloma. From an outsiders perspective, I will acknowledge the school’s strengths whilst earnestly discussing the concerns raised to hopefully implement change.

Firstly, I commend Coloma for their dedication to maintaining a focused learning environment. However, the policy of collecting and storing students’ phones in bags at the start of the school day has resulted in reported cases of damaged and lost phones. I would suggest that the school revisit this policy and consider alternative approaches that ensure students’ possessions are safely stored without the risk of damage or loss.

Another point of concern raised by students is the limited availability of toilets during lesson times and after the 6th lesson. While I understand the need to manage student movements, it is essential to address the inconvenience faced by students with disabilities, such as IBS, as well as those experiencing nosebleeds or menstrual cycles. Providing accessible toilets throughout the day or implementing a fair and efficient system to address these specific needs could greatly alleviate the issue.

Furthermore, reports of teacher bullying and instances of teachers displaying anger issues in front of students have had a negative impact on the school community. It is disheartening to hear that several teachers in subject areas such as Biology, music, and Geography have either taken days off or left altogether. The staff turnover is concerning. A shocking 32 left last academic year and 17 this academic year. The school administration should prioritize the well-being of both students and staff by implementing measures to address and prevent these problems.

Lastly, the receptionists’ reported rudeness is an issue that requires immediate attention. Frontline staff play a crucial role in representing the school’s values and creating a welcoming atmosphere. Training programs for the receptionists focusing on customer service and effective communication could greatly improve interactions between the quality of introduction to the school.

By taking steps to reassess policies and implementing necessary changes, Coloma could be a brilliant place. It is my sincere hope that this review will be considered constructively and lead to positive changes in the future.

defo 0 stars if i could , such a bad school , don’t go here teachers have no respect and give detentions for dumb reasons like hair not tied up and certain teachers target certain children , as a black girl they mix me with other black girls that look nothing like me and the always make fun of names that are hard to pronounce of they just skip it. The other day the head teacher mixed me up with another black girl that disrespected a teacher and when I somehow got then blame they still thought it was me. Some teachers give students a late detention even if they are 40 seconds late. I had blonde peekaboo braids and a teacher said black girls can’t have blonde hair and I told me to take it out. acc feel so bad for the new yr6 that are going DONT GO COLOMA UNLESS UR MENTALLY READY!!!
As someone who has been to this school, I don’t recommend unless you are willing to dedicate your life to it, I wish you luck.

The education is poorly:
teachers take our learning away because they can’t tell of people properly. Teachers are racist(they do nothing about this)and pick on certain people as if there aren’t other people messing around, school does not make me feel safe + if i protest about it then i would be called a miss behaved girl.

There are rumours and gossip every single week and people have been hurt. Some people have not been taught how to behaviour, does a student causing a physical fight/hurting another student sound responsible to you? where is the slack and proper in that.

The buildings are unhygienic:
water leaks through classes when someone spills water ants are crawling in the huts and when it’s winter there is no heating. The rooms are stuffy when it’s hot, where is the air conditioning? plus the windows are either locked or don’t open any further.
The school rules are out of order,:
if a student can’t wear hoop earrings or multiple earrings then neither should teachers. This should apply the same for all and girls have no freedom to express themselves when there is a mufti day.

Overall it’s the rules and the teachers fault for putting kids at a horrible state. Please fix this

worst school ever, students continuously pick on each other and teachers do nothing about it. students vape and fight like animals during the school day, toilets get locked and students are restricted from basic humans needs, having to tell the whole class that your menstruating just for permission to use the bathroom (which is embarrassing) and that is why some students have to suffer in silence.
if i could i would rate this school 0.
