I decided that I wanted my children to become trilingual. I searched online for a school that would teach different languages and came across Colorado international language School which at the time was called Global Village Academy. I said perfect so from South Carolina I moved me and my 6 children to Colorado Springs. My daughter started at the school in 6th grade to 8th grade and loved it learning Mandarin. My son started in kindergarten also learning Mandarin and is currently in 6th grade. I have another daughter that is following her siblings footsteps and started in kindergarten also learning Mandarin and is currently in first grade. I had very great experience with my children attending this school and would highly recommend this school …..
My daughter has attended CILA since Pre-K and is now in the 4th grade. Beginning in 1st, she was switched into their dual language program, which means she learns in Chinese for half the day and Spanish for the other half. I have been consistently impressed with not only her language acquisition, but also her academic gains. She is in the GT program and scores in the 99th percentile for math every year. As a teacher, I understand the challenge of keeping a high performing student consistently performing high and to not drop. My daughter’s test scores reflect her growth, which is a credit to her teachers. She is thriving at CILA and I highly recommend this school, as they emphasize educating the whole child through language, culture, and academics.
