Having not just read the reviews but also shortlisted and visited a number of other preschools for our 2 year old daughter, CCLC was by far our top choice and we were thrilled that they had space. We started in the toddler room (for <2 yr olds) and moved to the preschool once she turned 2. Both transition periods saw some tears from an insecure toddler moving halfway across the world to essentially start a 9-5 workday, but the kindness and warmth of the teachers in both rooms made it work and now she loves school even more than going on holiday! She also in quick succession dropped the pacifier and is in the process of potty training (most of her classmates are trained already). This is all credit to the teachers and peer pressure! Her ability to articulate her thoughts has increased by leaps and bounds, and she has a song for every occasion. The classes are ethnically diverse, including many international students, and they celebrate different cultures and backgrounds. The activities look really fun, and we get lots of videos and updates (food, nap, toilet) through the day via an app. There is lots of arts and craft, producing seasonal souvenirs that we can hang up at home. There is also lots of movement in a huge indoor activity room filled with toy cars and a playground-style slide, where the kids love to run amok. Each day of the week is dedicated to a specific skill - music, Spanish, gym, etc so there is a good routine. The food looks great, and the very civilized lunchtimes have been responsible for teaching a previously spoon-fed toddler how to get any kind of food into her mouth with minimal spillage, and introducing good table manners. The administrators are super organised and friendly and the teachers and staff know our daughter's name, which makes the center feel like a real family. We love the cheery, light-filled classrooms which are thoughtfully and creatively decorated. Security here is excellent - the first-floor reception attendants are regulars who will stop unfamiliar faces, and the center itself is buzz-in only. But thankfully, drop-off and pick-up can be done in a matter of minutes due to the loading zone parking area in front of the school. The school seems to charge much more reasonable rates than the competition, as far as we could tell, and is more diverse and unpretentious. For necessities like new equipment and holiday goodie bags they do call for parent donations, but there is no pressure. Unfortunately, with greater demand I think the tuition rates will creep up but I hope they will always maintain the diversity and down-to-earth family vibe that makes it so special.
This was a great find. My son has been going to Cornerstone since he was 6 months. The teachers and staff are very caring and professional. The school is very warm and welcoming and decorated throughout with kids crafts and pictures. They have projects and activities even as infants during the week. They use the Brightwheel app to post notes, pictures and videos. The students and staff come from are diverse international backgrounds. The directors and assistant directors are open and communicate well. During these pandemic times they have taken many precautions and keep classes small. They are a nonprofit and tuition is a tad reasonable than any standard daycare ( we luckily haven’t been charged tuition for the 3 months lockdown). They are open longer than other schools too so it was so convenient for drop offs and pickup
I don’t know if I can express in words how wonderful this place is. Our son attended Cornerstone for over 3 years since he was 2 years old. The first thing you notice when you come in is the feeling of being at home, a sense of community, and caring. Everyone that works there have been wonderful, from the teachers to the front desk person and the directors. All the staff knows all the kid’s names and are always available and kind. They have so many additional programs in the classrooms, like science, yoga, Bobbie the bear (work out class), music, art etc. They have an attached outdoor playground and go outside everyday weather permitting. It’s a very diverse school, with kids and families from all walks of life, background, ethnicities, and languages spoken. Plus, it’s the best priced school in the neighborhood 🙂
