So far , both my 4 year old daughter and I have been overall pleased with our experience at the school , as she has been here for 1.5 yrs now.
I live 1/2 hr away so I could easily go to Safety Harbor or Palm Harbor Montessori, which are both much closer to me. But I don’t because for the same cost ( which is not cheap) or less, you get so much more at this school.
Here your child gets to experience the school barnyard, learn swimming during the summer and learn Chinese from a teacher actually from China ( once in Kindergarten). The worldly things she learns on a daily basis at her age never ceases to amaze me. The teachers are very attentive & caring and get back with you quickly if you have concerns .
They don’t allow SUGAR at the school at the school, which is rare to find. It helps reinforce healthier eating habits and well as not contributing to hyperactive / ADD kids.
The other parents I’ve met in her class and 3-5 year old grade level all seem like decent caring individuals as well. And the times I’ve volunteered at lunch, there’s a good energy between all the kids and teachers.
I can’t save enough compliments about this school for the short amount of time we have attended. We hope to continue here even through the middle school as they have so much to offer.
Wish I got to go here when I was growing up….
I essentially grew up at Country Day School. I attended from preschool through 8th grade. Now as a senior in college, I can attribute my success to that five star early childhood education. Pinellas public schools lack the small class sizes that private school education offers. Yet, other Tampa Bay private schools lack the technology and opportunities that Country Day offers. CDS really does belong in its own category!.

When I attended years ago, I traveled with my middle school class to eight different European countries (Italy, Greece, England, France, Germany, Austria, Lichtenstein, and Switzerland). From what I hear, the emphasis on world travel and education has only become more important at CDS. They now have kids graduating 8th grade who speak Spanish AND Chinese! My Spanish education from preschool through 8th grade was excellent, and served me well through my higher level International Baccalaureate Spanish in high school, Spanish degree in college, and work abroad in Seville, Spain.

Parents: do not skimp on your child’s early education. An education at Country Day School really does make a life-long difference.

Our daughter attended Country Day from Kindergarten through fourth grade and I can’t say enough about the excellent education she received there. The early years are Montessori based and then transition to more traditional classroomgroup based education. There is a definite “family” feel to the school with lots of family events throughout the year. The campus is very quaint with several playgrounds for the different age groups, an outdoor theater, a large covered outdoor activity area, horse stables, and barn with small farm animals (goats, miniature cow, etc.). When our daughter moved up to fifth grade she was very well prepared and was ahead in many of the middle school topics.
