Parents & Students Reviews:
Cranbourne East Primary School has 50 reviews with an overall rating of 3.5. Some reviews have been edited for clarity.
This school is rife with bullies and many jaded teachers who have a reputation of shouting and screaming in the classroom. However, there are some very lovely teachers too, though they are few. I’ve given my review an extra star (making it two stars total) because these nice teachers, especially Lisa, the assistant vice principal, are very pleasant and responsive and I can not fault them.
As for the bullying issue, I personally know of another three families who have removed their children due to bullying. The school’s fall-back solution seems to be to protect the “troubled child” bullies and punish the victims. There are known problem kids in the school who make it unpleasant for so many other families but they seem to be a protected class because the school fails to handle the challenge of disciplining them or dealing with the defensive parents.
Other complaints:
-toilets are filthy and too frequently without toilet paper.
-kids are made to pick up crumbs from carpets with their bare fingers and then not given a chance to wash their hands.
-not enough shaded areas for hot days.
-kids made to sit at their tables in the hot sunlight on summer days as the west-facing windows in some portables do not have blinds.
-not enough time left to eat by the time the class makes it back to their classrooms for lunch. Parents were complaining online why their children keep coming home with half-eaten lunches.
-nightmare drop-off and pick-up traffic, though there is a sports centre car park being built nearby which might help traffic congestion in the future.
