honestly feel like this school was a big let down at yesterdays graduation first thing we were told by the principal it was not a graduation Mr. principal it is to all the parents don’t kid your self. the event was so unorganized it was embarrassing. not taking anything away from the children who did awesome proud as punch for those children. exclusion for the children who did not do the greatest is not a teaching tool nor a life lesson it is mean & ignorant. I would agree they are a tight nit bunch of teachers for me not so great it breeds favoritism. my sons teacher who was out a ridicules amount of days this school year because of personal problems showed not ounce of empathy for my child when it came to being late with an assignment because I his father was going in for surgery that day nor for the fact my son watched his father almost die twice this year. then was made to feel bad on career day cause we could not afford dress clothes for the event. do to the fact I spent almost 3 months either in a hospital or on a couch recovering & his mother loosing his job in the mites of everything else. pretty shore this teacher knows who she is as well as her pears. what a difference from my other sons filth grade experience to this ones. self inflated egos are never a good thing especially when it comes to children. if your child is going to this school research a teacher named Jill Putney coconut creek elementary then demand nothing less from your child’s teacher.
my child was enrolled last year under the ESE program, at first I liked how his teachers treated my child and how good of attention and help he got, but as much as I got involved by being a class mom, I volunteered to help the teachers on field trips and every time they needed help, and I got to see how some of the staff treated their students, I saw teachers yelling at kids, putting them down and specially during this summer classes, I decided to not take my son over there until the school starts because my son every week had a bruise on his body and a couple of times I saw my son’s teacher pulling him in a way that really bothered me and what really upset me the most was that one kid kicked my child in the head in the point where I had to take him to be evaluated by his doctor and when I asked his teacher what happened she didn’t really know what had happened. That tells me that she wasn’t paying attention to her students. Also the school’s majority is black and I feel like since my son is white and all his classmates are black that he was being discriminated.
My daughter attended this school in 2012-2013 school year. She was in an autism cluster class. She has mild autism. Her condition improved that school year. I gave 4 stars because I didn’t like how restricted they were. I’m clearly a parent and I believe I only was allowed in the school the first day and a day i had a meeting. They were very strict about visiting your kid on lunches and casually visiting in general. I know they have to be prepared for any school shootings – I get that. But I wasn’t able to be as involved as I wanted to be. This was years ago. I don’t know if they are still with the tight security but that was my biggest thing with them.
