Cristo Rey (in Milwaukee) is part of a chain of 30 Cristo Rey high schools across the country. The Milwaukee school opened in July 2015 but employs the same programs and requirements of all of the other schools. Cristo Rey schools are run by the Jesuits. (If you have had a Jesuit education, then you understand how demanding it can be. Marquette, Notre Dame and Loyola are Jesuit colleges.) It is an unusual approach to education and has, so far been very successful. The students attend classes four days per week (longer than a normal school day) and then work one day per week. The school has agreements with more than 30 companies in the area after just one year. This provides both an academic education and a practical education. After only one year the stats are not available for the Milwaukee program but I would expect them to reflect the nationwide statistics. 85% of Cristo Rey students apply for college and, to date, 100% have been accepted. The Milwaukee campus is located in a residential area on the south side of Milwaukee.
A school that works! A boon to youngsters who want to make it big!
The school has a good program but is not yet well develop.
