Six months ago, DSM hired Steve Marchena, a 35 year professional musician, Berklee Grad, with over 35 album credits to his name, and who toured Europe and North America sharing his talent. His talents include the way he teaches Guitar and for me the Mandolin.
His enthusiasm and teaching ability for me, understanding what my needs are at this stage in my life (old) has made learning and practice a BLAST!
I have a handful of instructors over the many years, but I have learned more with Steve Marchena
as my instructor in the last six months, that I had in my 65 years playing the same old stuff.
Classical, Rock, Gypsy Jazz and Delta Blues and for me BLUEGRASS

Dont Forget the BlueGrass Jams are back in September. SloJam on the second (2nd) Tuesday, and Intermediate Jam on the fourth (4th) Sunday. Both at 7:00 P.M. Both at The First Church in Dedham, 670 680 High Street, Dedham (Bldg. in rear of church.)
I cannot say enough good things about Dedham School of Music! My children have been taking lessons here for four years in fiddle, piano, electric guitar, and flute. Each and every instructor has been wonderful and has met my kids exactly where they are. I have one child who is driven, and her instructors have challenged her in such a way that her love for music has grown. She’s considering majoring in music, and we feel like DSM has given her a solid foundation for that pursuit. Another child enjoys music (but isn’t as driven) and her lessons have been fun and enjoyable. Regardless of skill, DSM has lots of opportunities for performances, which are fun to attend and confidence boosters for the performers. In addition, all the staff at DSM have been a joy to work with. We are so grateful for DSM!
My grand daughter, age 10 , has been taking piano lessons for several years now with Linnea Bardarson. We are all absolutely thrilled with the Dedham School of Music ! My grand daughter loves her lessons and looks forward to them each week. Linnea is a wonderful teacher, and tailors her teaching style to my grand daughter’s personality, which we greatly appreciate. The recitals throughout the year, which she really enjoys, give my grand daughter an opportunity to perform in a cozy, comfortable setting. Playing the piano has become a very important part of her life. The Dedham School of Music, and Linnea in particular, have given my grand daughter the gift of music which is a treasure she will have forever. Thank you from the family of Sarah M.!!
