Questions/verify information from this school! It will become clear that DLS continues to fail at delivering its promises. Above all, if your child attending this school and struggling/telling you concerning things BELIEVE THEM!! Look at this charter schools waiver on file with DPS.DLS has very little accountability to their promise of language immersion, waived responsibility to hire teachers/administrators that are qualified to state school standards,no obligation to support SPED/GT students in immersion program, allowed to operate without transparency/accountability to students, teachers, parents, and DPS. Board documents on DLS website will start to reveal broad and deep institutional disfunction.Problems with student attrition/staff turnover beyond the norm for immersion program, teachers are not qualified/supported and classroom management is not attainable, pedagogical strategy/curriculum is overly reliant on worksheets/devices. Parents need to be in a financial position to spend thousands of dollars on tutors to help their children stay caught up. Many people do not realize the gaps in education until their child leaves or matriculates. POLICE AND AMBULANCES HAVE BEEN CALLED TO DLS (elementary)BECAUSE OF TEACHERS HITTING CHILDREN!! CHILDREN ARE DRAGGED THROUGH HALLWAYS AND PUT IN CLOSETS!!! Please learn from my mistake of allowing my child to attend this school K-3rd (2015-2019) It was so toxic and dysfunctional I had to pull my children mid-year. My children currently attend their neighborhood public school and the difference is night and day. I would also suggest that you look at the negative reviews on Great Schools dating back to 2012. DLS Administration has been aware of the serious issues plaguing their school for over a decade and has not resolved them.
When Mr.White was there it was an amazing school now that Kimberly is principal she don’t have no care in the world I had to go to the school board cause the teacher was so cruel my daughter was cutting her self took it up with Kimberly but no action was taken then she kicks parents off school property cause you speak your mind about them teachers putting there hands on any child there I’m sorry but we will not just stand around letting it happen then the assistant principal tryed to make our kids watch trump and when we told him our child was not allowed to watch that he goes and puts on black lives matter I’m sorry once again I have a very big problem with that cause if you are supposed to be a role model to all these students you just showed them there life don’t matter unless you are black all LIVES MATTER so the school board needs to get it together and take action and need to investigate the lunch system they never have enough food for these students and only give pizza to the kids that pay for there lunch witch I don’t understand that cause they should be eating the same thing so no kid feels left out
