An amazing place—I wish the real world could be this good! Our son is intelligent, sweet and dyslexic. We moved here from Texas 2 years ago to send him to The dePaul School. We came for the school’s language-based interventions, modified instruction, and small class-size. We have stayed because the educational environment is unsurpassable. Staff understand the educational challenge of language-based disabilities, they teach to it, and they also genuinely see beyond it, into the student’s precious intellect and creativity. The students for the most part reflect the values of the school—they come from such varied backgrounds and learn together in a true community of acceptance. A beautiful place, in the most important aspects. We’re blessed to be a part of dePaul!
My son attended from mid first grade through 4th. He started at the 6% in reading diagnosed with profound dyslexia. He’s now at the 76% on norm ref standardized tests! It’s not just the OG instruction, it’s the genuine care for the whole child that sets this school apart. He felt embraced, safe and was proud of the progress he was making every day. It’s a double-edged sword, our hearts are sad that he’s ready for mainstream but so proud of the student he’s become. We’ll always be connected and grateful! ??
Update 2024! We have now been there half of 5 and now 8th grade for next year. She’s doing amazing. I can’t say enough good things. My daughter has been struggling with reading and writing. We had tried 3 different public and charter schools in the area without the results that we expected. She LOVES to go to school everyday and you can tell that she’s retaining more of what she is reading.
