Desert Marigold School is a family in the best sense of the word! I moved to Phoenix to place my adopted daughter in this school. I personally know successful graduates of Waldorf education who are now making great contribution to a more conscious planet. I was also encouraged by a good friend who was trained as a Waldorf educator. After two years I am more convinced than ever that I made the perfect choice for my child. Waldorf teaches the whole person to excel in body, mind, soul and spirit and live healthfully without being unduly influenced by popular culture. It encourages and develops personal expression and independence and provides resources for parents to help in this effort. Children grow up with the same teacher and classmates through the lower grades, which trains them to interact and form close bonds with many different people. Desert Marigold has an extensive waiting list; apply when your child is pre-kindergarten.
There is a serious lack of leadership and supervision at this school. My son has attended the high school and has been left with his class mates, on official school field trips, completely alone without any school staff or administration with them.

Numerous complaints, emails, meetings with staff etc, have been levied against the school, by all the parents in his class with absolutely no response from the administration. They continued to send the same irresponsible staff out on field trips with the students.

This is negligent behavior with student we entrust in their care.
I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for your child’s educational needs.

I homeschooled my child for her first 7 years. We found this school and decided to make a change. I am very impressed with the learning that takes place here. When they say they make there own books you need to understand what this means. The students are given lectures and need to take notes with these notes the form many drafts on the topic. They do a lot of very impresseve writing and study of the subject where it be science, history and language arts. You would never get in any other school. The children are very kind and welcoming to everyone. I love this school.
