WORST SCHOOL I’VE EVER WORKED AT! If I could give zero stars I would! This school has so much potential & the scholars are amazing which forced me to hold on to the position I had through a 3rd party agency. Unfortunately the staffing is TERRIBLE, the rules made for scholars such as bathroom usage is RIDICULOUS, the principal talks down to her employees & major conflicts between staff goes unnoticed. There are indeed some GREAT teachers & leaders there which I believe is what’s holding the school together! NUMEROUS days I’ve witnessed scholars walk the halls, run the halls, fight, & disrespect staff with NO DISCIPLINARY ACTION. The principal “Ms. Hayes” DOES NOT believe in calling parents when such actions are done in order to keep up with the image of the school.Staff are stressed & feel unsupported because the behaviors are so bad & goes unnoticed. You could put a disruptive child out of the room so other scholars can learn, administrative will unlock the door & send the child back in without conversing with the teacher or at least letting the teacher know they’re supported & the situation has been taken care of! A lot of scholars are missing out on flourishing simply because the behaviors in this school is ATROCIOUS! My advice to any parent enrolling their children in this school is to take an ENTIRE walk through & occasionally pop up! You’d be surprised how well the principal portrays the school! For anyone looking to join their “team”, good-luck! A lot of the teachers & staff has been their for years together & will in fact treat you unfair & disrespectfully as a whole! I had high hopes for this school & loved the scholars I got the opportunity to work with but unfortunately a lot has to change starting with the principal & some staff!

As an illustration of “a school for failure,” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School is the best. Only a small portion of the personnel is concerned about your children’s prosperity. Most teachers just slack off while discouraging the students or amusing themselves watching fights between classes. The ratings were more important to this institution. Because of how bad this school was, I had to enroll my kids in online learning classes. I would never advise any parent to enroll their child in this school or to maintain their child enrolled there.

There are many unsettling aspects of the school. They were initially upset with me for removing my son out. He continued to become ill despite the structure being hardly clean. Then, due to some health issues, it was challenging for me to get my daughter to school. But did they care? Of course not, NO. I called MPS repeatedly, but they never even bothered to return my calls. My daughter being part of the McFarland District makes me happy. They truly treat all kids and parents with respect, professionalism, and compassion. Restaff the school, appoint a director, or close it down for all of our benefit. Once more, they are referred to as Riverwest’s worst educational institution. I’m just relieved that the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School horrors for my family and I are finally over.
