My child has been going to E-Plex’s afterschool program for a while now. He loves the teachers and they truly care. However, the administration and the head of the afterschool ruin the whole atmosphere of the center. A couple weeks back, my child came running towards me complaining about how there is a strict playground time. I understand that there should be a designated time for kids to play and do work. But after going to school for 7 hours, I would like my child to play outside longer than 10 minutes and that ONLY once a week. The administrators state that parents are complaining about how their child is spending too much time outdoors and it’s not good for them. I would love to see what parent would not want their kid to be outside especially as many are addicted to their technology and stay indoors often. It’s truly draining for my kid as he goes to school for 7 hours and then proceeds to come to an afterschool camp. So when he comes to me complaining about how like he isn’t happy w how there’s such strict rules that are outside of the teacher’s control, I can’t help but blame administrators. I would like to see what they gain from limiting my child to enjoy some outdoor time once a day. Once a week for 10 minutes sounds ridiculous. While there are other various reasons as to why I am not happy with the center, i think that this moment truly pushed my decision to going to a center that cares more about the kids and not simply the profits. Many parents and I have talked and feel similarly. don’t enroll your child here.
HUGE waste of money. My 5th grade son stated he didn’t learn anything and that the content taught was what he learned in 3rd and 4th grade. No assessment was given and I later realized there were students who couldn’t speak English in his class. One could only assume how language arts was taught to a class with different levels of English proficiency. I felt this place was more of a daycare vs a place that would challenge a child’s mind.

I sent my son here because his school friend attended also. We found out within the first week that the friend decided not to attend anymore so my son didn’t want to attend either. Having prepaid a week of Jan and all of Feb, I had asked to request a refund because of the situation. The refund request was made having only attended there for a day, but no consideration of a partial refund was given.

This place lacks empathy in making the best decisions for a child and instead only cares about making money, and this is not a cheap place.
