Our daughter attended Edgewood Campus School for several years. We had some great teachers in 4K and third grade, but a very disappointing experience with her 2nd and 4th grade teachers. The 2nd grade teacher was a total nightmare starting with her interference when we decided not to invite a “not so kind classmate” to our daughter’s private birthday party and ending in her trying to prevent my husband from bringing our daughter into the school. Mind you, I could list about 20 parents who brought their children in and were never told they could not come into the school with their children. When I asked the principal to put the teacher’s request in writting she said “we could come into the school anytime we wanted to”. As our daughter suffers from asthma we had a medical letter written every year by her pediatrician indicating that she was not to be outside for recess if the temperature was 25 degrees or below. However, her second grade teacher along with other staff members seemed to have a lapse of memory when it came to our daughter. The principal advised my husband and I that “she was having a hard time getting the second grade teacher to agree to follow through with the medical request. The prinicpal said that the second grade teacher would say to her “really?” When our daughter fell from the monkey bars and was crying unconsolably and told her second grade teacher that she had blood on her undergarment the teacher never called or advised my husband or I of the incident and neither did any of the other staff members who knew about the fall. When our daughter came home we had to rush her to the emergency clinic where the doctor advised us that she suffered a severe lasceration and bruising from the injury. As you can imagine, the doctor was lost for words as to why the school would be so negligent in not contacting my husband or I to report what had occured on the playground. Could it be that no one really cared? Our daughter’s 4th grade teacher was incapable of communicating with us regarding her methodology for grading our daughter’s school work. After several weeks of not having a clear understanding of the teacher’s expectations I spoke to the principal and showed her our daughter’s work and the teacher’s grading. She couldn’t understand it either. She advised us that she would speak to the teacher immediately and have her contact us, but that never happened despite advising the principal that the teacher had not contacted us at all. We were fortunate to be able to leave Edgewood Campus School and find a new school for our daughter where she is truly happy and so are we! I highly recommend every parent that before you enroll your child in this school or in any other school that you research everything about the school and their staff members.
My three sons thrived in academics, grew in faith and blossomed as socially responsible people through the awesome teachers at ECS
Great school and faculty. And a really nice gym.
