This school is one of the best high schools in Fresno. It may be located in a dangerous neighborhood, but the school is like an oasis in a desert. The school and neighborhood are totally separate. The security lets no one into the school who shouldn’t be there. Also, the classes are amazing. The teachers tend to everyone’s needs. The kids who fly through school have challenging courses, while those who struggle have classes adjusted to their level. Edison offers more AP classes than any other school in Fresno. The environment is also great. There is so much diversity in the student body. Kids with all backgrounds, ethnicities, and religions attend this school. It is SO easy to make friends at Edison. There are many different clubs and extra curricular activities to join. There’s theatre, band, sports, robotics…then there’s German Club, Anime Club, GSA, Key Club…the list is endless. Another thing, there are rarely any fights that go on between students. Far fewer than at Bullard, I can tell you that. But if a fight was to occur, the staff would be on top of it before you could say “Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis”. Honestly, though, this school is great. I started at Computech in 2007, then went on to Edison to graduate in 2013. It was the best 4 years of my life. I dearly miss it.
This school from the time I was there from 1999 to 2003, was clothed in darkness: it had fights, prostution, rape, and yes even a couple of murderers where in my graduate class. So before praising this school, its like any other school in fresno. It’s full of gang violence and other problems. So there’s no need to praise a school whom is ghetto and yes it was ghetto when I attended. Maybe they got rid of all the old problems but beware they will come back. Gangs rule the regluar classes.
School is above average. Administration is not supported or helpful. Offers the biggest selection of Advance Placements Courses in a public school in the Fresno Metro Area but passing rate in this courses is low as many of the teachers teaching in this courses are mediocre. Graduation rate is high. If you live in Fresno this high school is the best Fresno Unified School District can provide to your child.
