Excellent school and teachers. When we moved to El Paso, we visited several (>5) schools in the area. In this school, the children stood out as very communicative, academically advanced and very bright, and teachers stood out as committed to excellence in working with children and dedicated to teaching as a profession. We easily decided that this was the school where we are most likely to see our 4-year old son thrive. My son is in the preschool class, and while bilingual, he started attending the school with poor knowledge of English. Within a few months of attending the school, he was communicating in English very well. I think the reason is the emphasis put on communication and interaction in the classroom, and with other children across grades and all the school’s teachers. Otherwise, I also think that teachers and their teaching style helped my son to adjust well academically. He is enjoying the math, and tries to “apply” it in everyday life. For example, he counts dimes to check what he can buy with them, he counts to “one hundred” when hearing some large numbers discussed, as he wants to estimate “is that little or a lot.” He is very pleased that he is learning more languages (Spanish and Mandarin), and enjoys extending the Spanish words he learns into simple sentences at home (we try this together). As he previously mostly enjoyed playing and engineering type of activities, I have been pleasantly surprised at his academic progress at EPCDS and how much he enjoys the school and academic activities.
I was very proud of myself never waste my money buying ridiculous ugly items of clothing that also happen to be ridiculous expensive. Then, I enrolled my child in this ugly and expensive school. This school reminds me the “New Emperor’s Clothes”. That short tale story about two weavers who promise to the emperor a new suit of clothes that they say is invisible to those who are unfit for their positions, stupid or incompetent; but the true is the weavers make no clothes at all, making everyone believe the clothes are invisible to them… This school is academically terrible, but they make you believe they are “top notch”. Teachers are not fully qualified, so they do below the minimal and expect children do up to three hours of daily homework in order to pass three quizzes they have to, every week. Then you as a parent has to do the job of the “teachers”, or wait and see when your child will burn out. Save your money, or buy that ridiculous expensive purse you want to, but do not mortify your little genius attending this ugly place. Believe me, your little genius will be much better in a real great school and she will have “free time” to learn by herself whatever she wants.
