This school is truly a hidden gem. I am a mother of a child with autism and this school has been an amazing change for my son. We were truly worried about where our son was going to attend middle school and after a rough elementary school experience and a year of preparing for this transition we found ourselves at EPLA. Every person on staff has gone above and beyond to help my child find his place here and the growth I’ve seen in him is truly remarkable. For example my son went from running away from school and barely participating in class to greeting everyone he walks by in the morning and answering questions in group settings… from sitting alone in the corner of the classroom to participating assembly and eating in the cafeteria. His academics are way above where previously predicted he would be by the larger school district we came from. It’s enough to bring tears to my eyes knowing that he is happy safe and accepted for who he is.
Even on days where his social anxieties get the best of him he is still eager to go to school. It’s an experience that we’ve never had before and it’s thanks to the wonderful people who work here.
Every person on staff is truly invested in seeing these brilliant young minds grow. The smaller classes allow for the one-on-one instruction that so many schools in the three main disticts in El Paso have stepped away from. Their emphasis is on over all academic growth not just on STAAR testing which reduces the stress of the students and allows them to truly learn what is on the TEKS. These scholars arrive every morning eager to learn and make a difference in our community. The students themselves are wonderful kids, kind and supportive of each other. It truly is a unique Middle School experience unlike any I’ve ever seen before. For the first time in my son’s educational experience we have no need to worry about bullying or isolation. The entire campus, from the students to the administrative staff teachers and office personnel, have really embraced my child no matter how difficult the challenges they are always eager to get him through without judgement (a SPED parent’s dream).
If they are able to give my child this kind of experience imagine what they can do for yours. I highly encourage anyone who has a middle school child please consider sending them to the El Paso Leadership Academy because here they are truly building the kind of leaders we want for our future.
My son has been attending El Paso Leadership Academy for 2 years, and it has been an amazing experience for both my son and I in all the ways that matter. The teachers consistently expect the best from their pupils and I feel that the syllabus being taught is advanced for their ages, which only does wonders for their growth and intelligence.

The environment is very family-like; every one is addressed by name, and teachers and administration get to know your child and their personality very well.

The school encourages thoughtful discourse and after school clubs. As an example, my son is in the Book Club, and the group gets together weekly to talk about their chosen book, then after the book is finished, they’ll organize a movie theatre outing. It’s great!

My son is always eager to learn because the teachers make learning challenging but rewarding. His grades have gone sky high and it’s with the wonderful leadership of such a dedicated and qualified team of educators that all of my son’s successes have been made possible.

If you’re thinking about enrolling your middle school-aged kiddo at EPLA, do it. Your child will grow intellectually and socially by leaps and bounds, and most importantly, be ready for the rigors of High School and College!
