My wife and I are 72-year -old retired school teachers (she at Field for 1 year, then Cicero for 20+ years and me at district 63 in Darien for 33 years). We both graduated from Elmhurst college and have lived in Elmhurst for 43 years. Both of our boys “graduated” from Lincoln School and then graduated from York. It’s a GREAT district and whatever future plans (academically and physically), it’s agreed that WE NEED THEM. I’m tired of seeing Hinsdale Central and Stevenson always ranked above York.
We both would hate to see Lincoln razed, but it is time for it’s demise. The high school programs at York need to be strengthened (STEM,etc).
We both realize that the propetry taxes will go up, but that’s how you improve real estate values.

The only parts of this school district that function with any level of meaningful outcomes, quality or efficiency are its ability to over-administer everything to death and to uselessly burn through extraordinary amounts of tax revenue like dry tinder. Competence is the rare exception at every level of this district and its schools. Make certain your children are familiar with Kahn and similar academies before they set foot in a D205 school.
