But it’s for their treatment of developmentally delayed children that I sing Dickinson’s phrases. Attention to our son has been consistent, ultra responsible, and well documented. All of this was carried out by a faculty, staff, and student body (our boy is occasionally sent, quixotically, to a “mainstream” class–good for him, not so much for other other students). Average students at large like him and treat him like a spoiled prince of the Raj.
Imagine this: my son likes going to school! He even likes the bus drivers (and so do I–the Lake Washington School District seems to vet them very, carefully because they’re all pleasant, caring, and stable).
On the other side of the spectrum, a close friend reports that the innovative Explorer “school within a school” is every bit the hippy jewel in the district’s crown, with many passionate and capable teachers, a duly creative student body, and parents enthusiastically serving out their required participation allotments.
We ended up sending our elder children to Overlake, an expensive and striving private school nearby that does not strike me as nearly the bang for the buck you get at Dickinson. I have no reason to believe the teachers are any better or are better qualified as a whole. A few at Dickinson strike me as better than the average Overlake teacher.
All of this is to say that if you plan to send kids to Dickinson, there is no need to worry about their getting a decent education. This has to be one of the best public elementary schools in the region, much less the district.
My family and I feel lucky to have been in the orbit of Dickson. Highly recommended.
and I would like to say thank you to Ms.Aliki , Ms.Gabi and Ms Cici for the big support to our kiddo and u can tell they love all their students and they take care of all of them with respecting all students families.
I wish all the teachers like you
You deserves the best
