They say actions speak louder than words and last night said a lot. I decided to go to the PIAA Division 10 basketball finals between EFCA and Mercer. From a christian academy one would have expected positive leadership, sportsmanship and values that would be conveyed by the staff to the students. Instead, what I saw was a basketball coach acting like a lunatic, even berating individual players in front of his teammates. This type of behavior carried to his coaches and the team’s supporters. There was little, if any sportsmanship, starting with one of the EFCA players attempting to provoke a confrontation during a timeout in the 1st quarter with two Mercer players. Later, in what slightly less than a mugging, and up by 14 points, a EFCA player took a path injuring a Mercer player attempting a layup.

If this type of leadership is considered acceptable to the EFCA administration then its a sad day for the school. Administration, I guess the “Owner”, has replied to other comments and I would be interested in their opinion if such behavior is considered acceptable.

Vince Lombardi once said “winning isn’t the only thing, it’s everything” but is what occurred during the game the type of values this school is instilling on its students via its staff?

When I read about the Pharisees and the teachers of the law in the Bible that put Jesus to death, I often times see lots of parallels with how this church and school has been running as of late.
Frivolously and fraudulently using the congregations money to pay off the leaders of the church/school, whilst simultaneously rejecting any elementary level business advice and removing the only honest and scrappy hard workers from the organization. But the most important flaw is failing to see God among good people, and willingly putting their blinders on to avoid truth. They would probably stone Jesus if he ever returned.
