Before I had my own kids in the evergreen district…. I myself went to the evergreen district, where on multiple occasions I was treated horribly. One teacher even dragged my by my hair on one occasion, my wrist another, and another teacher threw a chair at me in anger. When I expressed this to the vice principal at BBC she assured me these things don’t happen anymore and my daughter was in safe hands. Immediately, the very first day I enrolled my girl in school…. the principal accused me of cussing and yelling at her front desk lady. Which did. Not. Happen. However the principal admitted to lying and said “well see how you feel attacked right now? She felt like you were yelling and cussing st her”… didn’t yelll…. did not raise my voice. Hardly said 5-10 words to the woman. I asked that the principal handle these situations with a little better conflict resolution. To be met with MORE hostility. They didn’t put my daughter on the bus, then the principal YELLED AT ME THAT ITS MY FAULT I DIDNT TELL THEM WHICH BUS TO PUT HER ON. The bus barn did call them afterwards and remind them, it is in fact the schools responsibility to know which bus to put them on. And if they do not, to call and find out. The principal, still, refused to acknowledge any fault in this situation. I filed a grievance and set up a meeting with Thelina the principal of BBC…. for her to dismiss any idea I might have a concern…. and to walk out of the meeting within maybe 1-2 minutes and saying she doesn’t see it going anywhere productive. The district isn’t taking anything seriously. I’m terrified for my kids safety here. And they do not care.
Not sure how school district changed from 2004 to currently. Always felt our kids were free from any harm. That schools regardless where kids attended would treat my kids as if they are their own kids. We have had our boys at Mountain View. (Union HS rocks! I assume that has nothing to do with the district) Various elementary schools and home choice academy, etc. I wish I didn’t have to post about our son attending Shahala. Can’t speak for how recess goes everywhere else, but their insurance plan they have with Clear Risk Management is quite telling. Our family has always signed waivers for football. Injuries occur. But none have ever been so extreme as our son incurred while playing basket ball at recess last month. I don’t understand how it is reasonable to drop our kids off at school and the get a call to come get them due to recess. I couldn’t believe what I was looking at. Nor can I accept it is reasonable for our kids to end up at ER and then undergo sedation surgery. I don’t know if I’m the only parent upset about no one at school being held accountable or that the incident report is inaccurate etc but I never expected the sarcasm from their insurance people or that I would be forced to learn what a tort claim is. Children and families deserve better from their district. Liability insurance shouldn’t be this hard to fight for on their watch! And from what the local media has told me, I’m not alone. Only hiring an attorney will get them to move. What a shame indeed!!
